Aluminum Alloys for Structural Applications

2xxx series aluminum alloys belong to the Al-Cu-Mg series alloy, which is called high-strength hard aluminum and is the most widely used structural aluminum alloy. The tensile strength of 2xxx series aluminum alloy is 400~500 MPa, which is lower than the room temperature strength of 7xxx series aluminum alloy, but its heat resistance, fatigue characteristics, especially fatigue crack propagation resistance are better than those of 7xxx series aluminum alloy.

2024 aluminum alloy is an alloy frequently used in the aerospace industry. It is a high-strength alloy suitable for projects requiring a high strength-to-weight ratio and fatigue resistance. Therefore, it is primarily found in wing and fuselage structures that are frequently subjected to tensile forces.

Aluminium alloy 2024 t3 and t351 has high strength, good cutting performance, high strength, heat resistance, good spot welding, and significant heat treatment strengthening effect. Anodizing and painting methods are used or an aluminum layer is added to the surface to improve its corrosion resistance. It is mainly used for aircraft skeleton components, rivets, wing spars, truck hubs, propeller components, bulkheads and other structural parts as well as working parts within 150℃.

7075 aluminum alloy is a high-strength and hard aluminum. In the field of aerospace, 7075-T651 aluminum bars are mainly used to make the main load-bearing structural parts of aircraft, such as fuselage frames, wing spars, landing gear components, propeller blades and various fasteners.

7075 aircraft grade aluminum sheet has good mechanical properties and anodic reaction characteristics. It has good wear resistance, is easy to process and has good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance. This allows the anodizing 7075 aluminum to maintain stable performance and extend service life in a variety of harsh environments.

7075 aluminum has good formability in the annealed and solution heat treated conditions at ambient temperature and in the 7075-T6 condition at elevated temperatures. The alloy resists stress corrosion cracking in the 7075-T73 state. Al-7075 can be resistance welded, but fusion welding is generally not recommended.

7050 aluminum plate is developed based on the 7075 aluminum alloy, thus obtaining better comprehensive properties of strength, exfoliation corrosion resistance and stress corrosion resistance, and is used in the compression components of the F-18 aircraft.
