A Highlight of 2219 Aluminum Alloy

2219 Aluminum alloy is of high specific strength, good low and high temperature mechanical properties, high fracture toughness, and good stress corrosion resistance. It is suitable for structural parts and high-strength welded parts that work at a high temperature of 315℃.

2219 alumnum sheet is a heat-treatable and strengthened deformed aluminum alloy. After solution aging treatment, the mechanical properties of the aluminum alloy are greatly improved. It has a wide application in aerospace and aviation industry.

Main Properties

  • The volume conductivity of 2219 aluminum alloy under different heat2219 aluminum sheet.jpg treatment states at 20°C is 44/%IACS (O temper ), 28/%IACS (T31, T37, T351 temper) and 30/%IACS (T62, T81, T87 , T851 temper).

  • Their resistivity at 20°C is 39/nΩ·m (O temper ), 62/nΩ·m (T31, T37, T351 temper) and 57/nΩ·m (T62, T81, T87, T851 temper).

  • The temperature coefficient of resistance of 2219 aluminum alloy in various tempers at 20 °C is 0.1/ nΩ·m·K-1.

  • Among them, T3 means cold working after heat treatment, and finally 2219 aluminum goes through natural aging to a basically stable state, and the second digit shows the amount of cold working deformation after heat treatment.

  • T62 is suitable for materials in annealed or free state, and it belongs to the artificially aged products after solution heat treatment.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-O under heat treatment are 175 MPa, 75 MPa, 18% and 73 GPa respectively.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-T31 and 2219-T351 under heat treatment are 360 MPa, 250 MPa, 17% and 73 GPa respectively.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-T37 under heat treatment are 395 MPa, 315 MPa, 11% and 73 GPa respectively.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-T62 under heat treatment are 415 MPa, 290 MPa, 10% and 73 GPa respectively.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-T81 and 2219-T851 under heat treatment are 455 MPa, 350 MPa, 10% and 73 GPa respectively.

  • The tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and elastic modulus of 2219-T87 under heat treatment are 475 MPa, 395 MPa, 10% and 73 GPa respectively.
