AA2024 Aluminum for Aerospace

2024 aluminum sheet is a kind of aluminum for aerospace. It can be strengthened under natural aging (T4). 2024 is a 2xxx series alloy that has been applied in industry. Its current application scope mainly includes rivets, general mechanical parts, aircraft, ships, transportation, building structures, transportation vehicle structures, propellers and accessories, etc.

2024 aluminum sheet is an alloy with higher performance and higher strength than 2017 aluminum alloy in the same T4 state. Aluminum alloy 2024 can accept all types of anodic coatings. It also has good machining properties when machined on automatic lathes with single-point or multi-axis diamond tools.

2024 aviation aluminum VS ordinary aluminum

2024 aviation aluminum alloy is a strong deformation aluminum alloy with good mechanical properties and processing properties, good heat treatment strengthening effect, high strength at high temperature (150℃ or even higher), and good toughness.

Compared with ordinary aluminum alloys, aviation aluminum alloys have higher requirements for strength, hardness, toughness, fatigue resistance, and plasticity. Due to the light weight and lightweight effect of aviation aluminum, it has replaced steel and occupied the dominant position of current aviation materials.

2024-t3 aluminum alloy

AA 2024 t3 was introduced by Alcoa in 1931. Its Ai-Cu-Mg structural composition gives it a yield strength of 5ksi, replacing 2017-T4 as the main 2-series aviation alloy. 2024 has relatively good fatigue resistance, especially in thick plates, making it suitable for most aircraft structural applications.
