7075 is a typical super-hard aircraft-grade aluminum alloy. It belongs to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series super-hard aluminum alloy. It is a non-improved original aluminum alloy with Zn as the main alloying element and a cold-treated forging alloy.
7075 aircraft aluminum alloy is one of the most commonly used aluminum alloys with the highest strength. The alloy was used in the aircraft manufacturing industry in the aviation field in the late 1940s, and it is still a widely used ultra-high strength deformed aluminum alloy in the aviation industry.
1. It has high strength, far better than mild steel, and compact structure.
2. After solution treatment, the yield strength ratio is about 0.85, and its plasticity is good; the heat treatment strengthening effect is good.
3. As the temperature increases, the strength of 7075 alloy decreases. The strength is high at room temperature and has higher strength below 150°C, but at 200°C, the strength of the alloy is only half of that at room temperature.
4. 7075 aluminum sheet has particularly good low-temperature strength and toughness. In liquid nitrogen at -196°C, the strength and toughness of the alloy are still very high, so it is widely used in the aerospace field and other equipment that needs to be in a low-temperature environment.
5. It has good corrosion and oxidation resistance, but has a tendency to stress corrosion cracking; in the T6 state, it is very sensitive to stress corrosion cracking, especially in the short transverse direction.
6. In the T73 and T76 states, the alloy's stress corrosion resistance can be greatly improved. Among them, the T73 state has the highest stress corrosion resistance. The T76 state not only has high strength, but also has high stress corrosion resistance. Its exfoliation corrosion resistance is also very good.
7. In the state of solid solution treatment and artificial aging T6, the plasticity of 7075 alloy is slightly lower than 2024T6 and slightly higher than 7A04T6. The plate is sensitive to static fatigue notch and has better stress corrosion performance than 7A04.
8. 7075 aero grade aluminium has poor welding performance, is easy to produce cracks during welding and cannot be fusion welded, but can be contact welded with strong pulse current. 7075 alloy is often connected by riveting or bonding process.
In the aviation field, it is mainly used to make aircraft skins, fuselage frames, beams, propellers, fuel tanks, wall panels and landing gear struts, as well as streamlined covers, rotating tables, remote controls and main components of space launch vehicles and engine devices.
It is also widely used in the fastener industry, mainly for the production of various types of nuts and shear-resistant high-lock nuts.
